Blue Door Café & Bakery

The Blue Door Café & Bakery in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio is an upscale café with European inspired taste and atmosphere. Before I sat down for my much-anticipated breakfast, I had a chance to chat with the Café’s owner Michael Bruno.

As Michael and I talked, he was busy making his wonderful croissant pastry dough and describing to me how to get the perfect texture and consistency.  Years before, baking started as a hobby for Michael, eventually it became his true passion.  Michael received his education at L’academie de Cuisine Pastry Arts Program in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Then I visited the kitchen to get a glimpse of the Chef in action. The café’s Chef is Torsten Schulz, Chef Torsten obtained his culinary education at the Hotelfachschule–Villingen, Germany. He is a well renowned international culinary chef (maintained a Michelin star rating while working in Portugal).

The café serves breakfast and lunch, dinner only on Fridays & Saturdays. The menu changes weekly, so there is always something new to try. The diversity of the food is a pleasant surprise from the savory to the sweet. Everything here is handmade with the freshest seasonal, organic, and locally sourced ingredients.

 

I ordered the waffle with apple tartin resting on a bed of chocolate ganache, normally served with ice cream, I opted for the whipped crème. It was absolutely amazing. Then a chocolate croissant and a morning glory muffin to go. Both were excellent as well. So many wonderful pastries, breads, muffins and other baked goods to choose from.  All of the hard work that goes into their dishes and baked goods definitely shines through in each bite.  The lunch and dinner selections are just as unique, but that’s for another day for me to try.

The dinners will consist of a four course menu, dinners can be busy and best to call ahead and make a reservation.  If you’re looking for a new twist to the same old breakfast or lunch, this is your spot!  I will certainly make The Blue Door Café & Bakery a regular stop.  There is also an outside dining patio available. The staff is super friendly and attentive.

  1. Sounds like you had an amazing experience. I would love to try this place out, I also love the sound of the changing menu so there is always something new!

  2. The first photos of the sheet used to fashion a croissant would be enough for me to try this place. I actually live near L’academie de Cuisine, the culinary school where Michael Bruno got his education, and I can tell you that it’s quite renowned.
