Sante Fe, New Mexico is the oldest capital city in the United States, wonderful old west charm with a special uniqueness all its own. I think what makes it so special is that it has something to attract everyone. But Sante Fe is not just any city, it has centuries of native history and culture that continues to the present.

After I shop and dine my way through the downtown Plaza (which we will divulge in a future post), it’s time to head to the mountains.

Enchantment awaits you with a visit to New Mexico. I discover something new and captivating each time I visit.  This trip we were off to the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Park, approximately one hour west of Albuquerque.  The park is on the Pajarito plateau.  A 1.5 mile moderate hike up an ascending loop trail awaits.

Winking Lizard Tavern is an Ohio concern with 19 locations. It has that tavern feel with more than just pub food. They offer fish & chips, huge burgers and great hot wings with 18 sauces to choose from that range from mild, garlic, and magma hot! But, if you’re in the mood for a pizza or hickory smoked ribs, you can get that too.

I love their salads, big and a nice variety.  Their house salad is slightly different, it comes with corned beef. Over the years I have probably tried all of them.  They also have the best Patty Melt anywhere.

They offer over 30 beers draft & bottled.  Sign up for their Tours of Beer and you can taste over 375 beers from around the world throughout the year.  The menu will give you suggestions on matching a beer with the meal you select. Not into beer? Great selection of mixed drinks including a raspberry margarita.

The separate seasonal monthly menu will sometimes be themed such as Mardi Gras or St Patty’s Day.  There are plenty of desserts to choose from plus a special dessert of the month to try.

It’s easy to see why this a favorite of the locals. The menu is sizeable and reasonably priced. Great food, great variety of beers and drinks and a nice kid’s menu. So if you’re coming to Ohio or just passing through, check out the Winking Lizard Taverns.

When you walk inside this beautiful two-story building (a converted barn),  you first notice an eclectic array of specialty art pieces throughout each room.
