Patterson Fruit Farm in Chesterland Ohio

Patterson Fruit Farm in Chesterland, Ohio and has been a local favorite for many years. Patterson’s is set in the beautiful Ohio countryside and is open year round. When you walk into the main building the first sight you will behold are the many bags filled with big beautiful apples such as Jonathan, Honey Crisp, McIntosh and so many other varieties to choose from, grab a few samples to try.

Apples are just the beginning, you can taste their homemade apple cider and get a quart or gallon to go, Ohio-made goodies such as maple syrup, jams, jellies, soup mixes and apple butter. The bakery is chock full of goodness too.

They are one of the Cleveland areas top rated doughnut shops with choices from lemon crunch, maple, salted caramel & chocolate and of course apple.  The bakery serves up delicious homemade pies, apple dumplings and the best apple fritters I have ever had! The fritters are the size of a baseball glove.

There are many activities to do here throughout the year with of course the fall, apple season, being their busiest time. Bring your children and let them pick their own apples, choose pumpkins from all sizes and colors, or go on a hay ride.

Plenty of room for the kids to explore and play.  The wonderful aroma of kettle corn in the air. The Farm is adjacent to the Orchard Hills Park, over 237 acres, great for walking, hiking and bird watching, or having a picnic.  This park is part of the Geauga Park System.

The Orchard Hills Cafe offers hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream and snacks. Sit out on the deck and eat lunch or relax in one the Adirondack chairs.

The farm will ship apples for you (they will help customize your order) or you can order online. I love visiting in the fall, although I come throughout the year to pick up a few bakery items or cider. Sometime I just like a walk in the park and do a little bird watching.

The fall apple season can get crowded, especially on the weekends, but still well worth the a trip.  They offer fresh produce and pumpkins seasonally.

Patterson Fruit Farm is also known as a wedding destination. With the Farm’s scenic country views it makes for a perfect backdrop for any occasion or special event.

So if your passing through Ohio or here for a visit, take time out to see what the locals already know, Patterson Fruit Farm is a wonderful and tasty place to visit. For me, nothing says fall time more than a trip to an apple farm!

  1. I don’t think I have ever been to a fruit farm. I mean I have seen apple orchids or “one fruit” plantations I guess, but never a place with so much variety. Looks so cute and lovely..and oh all those variety of apples – I am sold!

  2. Yummmmm! I love farms like this. Back when I lived in Whakatane in NZ there was a great berry farm where you could go and pick your own berries, but also purchase all sorts of homemade berry products! I used to love visiting just to choose a new jam or chutney!
