Pier 22 in Bradenton Florida

Pier 22 in Bradenton, Florida is a fabulous restaurant on the scenic Manatee River.  This beautiful historic building was built-in 1928.  It has changed venues many times from a freight warehouse to The Chamber of Commerce and even a museum.

In 1974 the Miller Family purchased the building and decided to save the building instead of tearing it down.  It was transformed into a beautiful waterfront restaurant surrounded by the Twin Dolphin Marina, on the Bradenton Pier, which has existed since the 1800’s.

On my recent visit to Florida I had to revisit an old favorite of mine, the Pier 22.  It was even more picturesque than I remembered.  Large open dining areas inside and comfortable outside covered and uncovered patio seating.  Upstairs is a ballroom for special events.

We were seated on the back patio area so we could watch the boats go by and the pelicans dive for their lunch. Perfect day in Florida, sunny and breezy. We started with an appetizer of grouper fish dip and flat bread.  That alone could have been my meal, but I did opt for the fish & chips also. Both were excellent.  My niece had the soft shell crab sandwich, my nephew the alligator sandwich, and the kids hamburger and pizza.

The menu has an extensive variety including sushi, steak, lamb and pasta dishes, especially if you want to try something a little more unusual.  This is Florida and good seafood is important.  Pier 22 did not disappoint.  The margaritas were perfect!

It’s so nice after all the years that the quality dining, service, and atmosphere has been maintained at Pier 22. The restaurant has a subtle elegance while maintaining that laid back Florida feel that I love. This would be a perfect spot to meet up with friends for a drink after work and relax on the patio or reserve one of the larger rooms for a special occasion.  Cheers to many years to come for Pier 22!

****A big THANK YOU to my niece Elizabeth for this special treat to Pier 22!

The Pier Restaurant is located @ 1200 1st Avenue West, Bradenton, FL 34205  PH: 941.748.8087

  1. I have never been over to Bradenton so glad to see a post about it. The fish and chips look delicious. I love that every restaurant in our state serves the beloved fish dip. 😉 Thanks for sharing.

  2. Looks like the perfect stop for lunch. The fish and chips have my mouth watering! I simply love sitting and watching the view while I eat just like you watched the boats and the pelicans 🙂

  3. My girls and I are always in search of new places to dine. The next time I go to Tampa, I’m definitely going to suggest Pier 22. Tampa is only about 45 minutes north of Bradenton. I love restaurants near the water!!

  4. I just came back from FL! I really liked being able to eat outside. That doesn’t happen too often in Western Washington in the fall and winter months. Pier 22 looks like a nice place and I would totally order the alligator too. 🙂

  5. What a lovely story behind this restaurant, and lovely to hear that the service and food is just as good after many years! As for those margaritas, I’m there, you got me 🙂 It certainly seems the perfect place to meet up!
