Continuing my journey along Old Route 8 in Ohio, I ventured into Sarah’s Vineyard Winery & Art Gallery. Although not my first visit, this winery is a bit different from most wineries. When you walk inside this beautiful two-story building (a converted barn), you first notice an eclectic array of specialty art pieces throughout each room.
I did get a chance to visit with the General Manager Sarah Altieri in the tasting room and do a wine tasting while we discussed the food menu. Casual fare with appetizers, salads, soups, and sandwiches.
Sarah explained to me the history of how the Sarah’s Vineyard Winery got it’s start with owners Mike and Margaret Lytz and the winery’s opening in 2007. Their love for wines and art combined give the winery a unique appeal. The winery offers a wide variety of wines such as Blue Heron and Golden Solstice and all are modestly priced. As you sip a glass of vino you start admiring all the art pieces throughout the tasting room from local and national artists. Then take your lunch out on the back deck and enjoy views of the property.
The outside is just as beautiful with a butterfly garden in the front sitting area. An outdoor pavilion with a large wood burning fireplace allows guest to enjoy views of the grape vines and nosh on wood fired pizza.
The winery is near the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Blossom Music Center. After a fun day in the outdoors or after a concert, Sarah’s is a great place to kick back and enjoy a glass of wine and a snack.
It’s great to come back and see the winery expand while still maintaining the laid back atmosphere. The Lytz’s can be very proud of what they have accomplished with Sarah’s Vineyard…well done!
