Take Time To Visit Our National Parks This Year

Are you starting to plan your 2017 vacations? I know I am. If you’re traveling across the United States don’t forget to stop and visit our wonderful National Parks. From Maine to Alaska you will see the best this country has to offer by adding a National Park or two to your travel plans.

Our National Parks have so much to experience from mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, forests, unique geology & archeological marvels, and abundant wildlife. Explore activities such as rafting, horseback riding, hiking, skiing, or camping under the stars and so much more.  So, take time to visit and bring the kids for adventures and memories that will last a lifetime. The US has over 50 National Parks in 27 states. Some of our parks are designated Unesco World Heritage sites as well like some of the parks below. I have been to many of them, but have a few more to check off my list! I am always inspired by the uniqueness of each park.

Here are a few just to peak your curiosity and your wanderlust!

EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK, FLORIDA

GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, NORTH CAROLINA

CUYAHOGA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK, OHIO

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, COLORADO

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, TEXAS

KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK, ALASKA

GRAND TETONS AND YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARKS, WYOMING

THE BADLANDS, SOUTH DAKOTA ( include two National Memorials: MT RUSHMORE & CRAZY HORSE)

GRAND CANYON,  ARIZONA

TIPS:

  • The parks are less crowded if you go off-season.
  • Most parks have an entrance fee or you can buy a yearly pass for entrance to all the parks.
  • 62 or older you can get a National Park Pass and get in the parks free.
  • Respect the parks and take care while you are visiting. Keep the beauty for future generations.
  • DO NOT try to get close to the wildlife.

  1. You have definitely been to some beautiful places! 50 national parks doesn’t seem so much compared to 500 in Australia, but I bet they are as amazing in the states as on this side of the world. Your photos are gorgeous and I can’t wait to see all of them myself one day!

  2. The USA really does have some incredible national parks and this list does a great job in reminding you just how great they can be. I’ve been to none of these but heard of most of them, in part thanks to you Lisa. Can’t wait to visit these one day!

  4. The National Parks in the US are really a treasure trove of bio-diversity, nature and amazing landscapes. The authorities have done a great job in preserving the environmental balance with these parks. I would love to visit all of them. Have only been to Yellowstone..

  5. Wow, you have chosen to show us some stunning National Parks, I was looking at them thinking, “oh yes I love that one, oh now that one is my favourite, no, actually that one is my favourite …” then I just realised that it would be easier to say they are all gorgeous in different ways. Love the photos – especially the refelective balloon photo at the Grand Canyon – stunning! #feetdotravel

  6. So many national parks to choose from, we haven’t explored much of the USA but would love to in the future. Thanks for sharing. #feetdotravel

  7. So many stunning national parks in USA and so little time to visit them all! You don’t need to ask me twice to visit! Big Bend looks beautiful and definitely somewhere that I would find loads of cool hikes!

  8. LIsa, thanks so much for this inspirational post! It’s no secret that I love the National Parks and everyone should get out and explore their natural beauty. They’re very important in my opinion!

  9. Great post, and I whole heartedly agree! If you’re going to visit more than two parks in the course of the year, I highly recommend getting the annual pass – it’s only $85 and it covers two people for the entire year. Well worth it!

  10. We love your US National Park posts Lisa, these photos are super! We’ve only been to Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, Alaska is where I’d really like to go, definitely on our bucket list!!

  11. Amazing photos and history on the US National Parks. I have been to a few but have many more to visit. I would love to travel across country in a motorhome and visit all the parks. You just made me want to plan my trip 🙂 I have this pinned for later use. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  12. Beautiful. I see a bunch of reasons to get behind the National Park Service and help promote the science behind our impact on these places!! 😉

  13. There are so many wonderful national parks! I love how each of the parks you shared are unique in their own way. I’ve been to a few, but not all!

  14. Our National Parks are extremely important to our heritage and monumentally beautiful. I visit Rocky Mountain National Park quite frequently during the off season. It’s nice that we have such amazing spaces in our country. Let’s all work hard to keep them protected 🙂

  15. It´s amazing how all these diverse landscapes could be found within the same country! I´ve only heard of Yosemite and Grand Canyon, and of course, Alaska is my dream trip… But I clearly have to include more of these to my bucket list! The pics look stunning!
